A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper is in the hospital following a major crash involving a chase in Harris County Tuesday evening, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety - Southeast Texas Region.
The charges stem from accusations that in 2011 Paxton tried to solicit investors in a McKinney technology company without disclosing that it was paying him to promote its stock. The attorney general has pleaded not guilty.

A Texas judge ruled Friday that the state’s abortion ban has proven too restrictive for women with serious pregnancy complications and must allow exceptions without doctors fearing the threat of criminal charges.
The Texas case is believed to be the first brought by women who were denied abortions since the right to an abortion in the U.S. was overturned, according to the Center for Reproductive Rights, which is representing them.
Advocates and others have been highly critical of the lack of air conditioning in the nation’s largest prison system, alleging temperatures that often go past 120 degrees Fahrenheit inside Texas prisons in the summer have been responsible for hundreds of inmate deaths in recent years.
In one account, a trooper that upon encountering a group of 120 migrants on June 25 — including young children and mothers nursing babies — he and another trooper were ordered to “push the people back into the water to go to Mexico.”
